I just had to pen this down... A little disappointed and thankful at the same time...
I had an appointment with a lady gynae in KKH at 1.50 pm. At around 9 am, I received a call from KKH, informing me that the gyna I was referred to was on Medical Leave and would like to check if we can reschedule to Thursday. I was fuming.... Not because of the gynae. I mean, even doctors fall sick, I understand. I am already in pain, and without checking the hospital records, this staff had the cheek to call me and ask for a reschedule.
I asked for a change in gynae, preferable a lady gynae. She referred me to another doctor and shifted the appointment time to 11.30 am. I rushed to get ready, even rushed my Dad and my boyfriend as the appointment was shifted earlier.
We reached the registration counter at 11 am.... Guess what? We were informed that this lady gynae is fully booked and will not take in walk-in patients. Argggghhh! What else??? This nurse was sweet enough to check for me the next available gynae and found that Dr Jazlan was available to take up the case. Gosh! Finally.... But... He will only be in the hospital in the afternoon... around 2 pm... So, my mum, my boyfriend (who just came back after a night shift) and myself waited around the hospital for almost 3 hrs before I could meet Dr Jazlan. After explaining to him what happened and a little examination of my abdomen, I was asked to go for another pelvic scan. Here, I was asked to drink 6 cups of water and then go for the scan, after which, the results will be out after 2 hrs. Gosh! Another waiting time...
I let my boyfriend go back as he needs to go for another night shift later. My mum and myself, we went to grab some food.... And, came back to the waiting area. At round 5 pm, the results of my scan was out and I went in to see Dr Jazlan again.
He said that the pain I am experiencing now is not due to the ovarian cyst they found in my left ovary. But from the results, he said that the cyst is abt 3.2 cm, a solid cyst. He is unable to determine if there is a need to remove the cyst as yet. But, will need a blood test to be done to confirm on that. So, to conclude, I had my blood taken. An appointment is made to see Dr Jazlan again on Friday, 29 Feb 08. Haiz! More waiting....
In the meantime, I am covered with Hospitalisation Leave till 29 Feb 08....
